Alumni Q&A: Bawi L. Par
1. Please introduce yourself.
My name is Bawi L. Par. I am nineteen years old and I am currently a freshman at The George Washington University. I am planning to major in Cultural Anthropology and minor in Linguistics.
2. What does Re’Gen mean to you?
Re’Generation was and still is one of the biggest blessings in my life. When I was in high school and I was hopeless in my path to college, Re’Generation came into my life. Re’Generation gave me access to amazing tutors that help raise my SAT score and mentors that help me with the application process for colleges and scholarships. I couldn’t be more thankful because I would not be able to attend college on a scholarship today if it was not for Re’Generation Movement.
3. With your dreams and passions, how would you like to regenerate society?
I want to be a successful leader in the areas that I excel in which will then, I believe, regenerate the society. I am aware that I am a scholar that loves reading and learning about the different cultures and languages that exist around the world. Hence, the reason for my major, Cultural Anthropology, and minor, Linguistics, that I want to take in college. I am also an avid lover of art. I want to able to take these things that I am good at and impact other people’s lives whether through educating them or working to improve existing systems in their society to make their daily lives easier. This is how I believe I can regenerate various societies and become a successful leader. I was once told that success is measure through how many lives are better because you live and, in that term, I want to be as successful as possible. That is my dream and passion.
4. What does peace mean to you?
Peace to me is the feeling that comes from everything being in their original state of purpose. If I were to give an example, the purpose of a car is to get us from one point to another. The moment car breaks and no longer serves its purpose, it causes anxiety in its owner because it brought on emotional and financial stress either to fix the car or get a new car. I believe the same principle applies to all the other areas in our lives, not just materialistic things. The moment anything deviates from their original purpose, peace is disrupted.
5. What do you want to share about Re’Gen to people that you know?
Everyone in Re’Generation from the founders, mentors, tutors all the way to the volunteers are all servant leaders that have the best interests of the students, their families, and their communities. Being able to associate with such people produces an indescribable feeling that could never be bought. Re’Generation is not just an organization working to make a change but also a family unit that is working to elevate the lives of everyone in the family. And the great thing is everyone is welcome to join the family.
